Grounded in safety. Herzig Engineering specializes in electrical safety services and studies with a particular emphasis in Arc Flash Hazard Assessments. These power distribution studies assist our clients with complying with OSHA and NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements. Our clients come from all industry sectors including the industrial, manufacturing, medical, commercial, institutional and other settings. We help increase safety for our clients by empowering employees and management with knowledge of the electrical safety risks they will encounter at their jobs.

The Requirements

To be a strong fit for the role of Electrical Data Entry Technician, you will have:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent; an Associate's degree or some completed college coursework, ideally in a directly related field, is preferred  Quick question for you - click here
  • General understanding of and interest in electricity/electrical applications (i.e. gained in construction, farming, repairs, automotive, etc.); solid technical/mechanical aptitude
  • Comfort with computers including:
    • Skill with MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • The ability to effectively learn new technology (i.e. SKM PowerTools) 
    • Experience using SKM PowerTools or similar (e.g. EasyPower, ETAP) is an advantage Quick question for you - click here
    • CAD experience is a plus
  • Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills
  • Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
  • Initiative combined with a proactive approach and strong work ethic
  • The ability to work independently and as a strong team member.

The Role

As Electrical Data Entry Technician, you will take ownership of an hourly, entry-level, career building position. You will play an important role on a multi-position service team focused on supporting the electrical safety of customers across the nation. Under the direct oversight of our engineers, you will provide data entry for customers' large industrial & commercial electrical distribution systems. These systems are typically 2000 to 4000 amp service, with customers having multiple (up to ten or more) systems on site. 

Daily, you will input data collected by the electricians into the SKM PowerTools software to generate one-line diagrams (similar to circuit diagrams) and warning labels from the reports you'll produce through the software. You'll learn to model power systems and interpret specifications and data from members of the service team and reports.
